How do I get email previews out of the status bar.

I am really hoping to get some help. I have the Note 5 (using 6.0). I had to do a factory reset yesterday and I have one issue that I cannot resolve. When I pull down on the status bar, I can read all of the first email. I know that I have fixed this issue once before, but for the life of me, I can't remember how and I forgot to write it down.

I have gone in and unchecked the pop-up box, yet I can still read the first email.

I need the notifications at top. I just do not want to see it on the pull-down bar. I want to read the emails in the app.

Can anyone help me please? I would so appreciate it.

Settings... Application... Gmail (?)... Notifications.. Allow... Here you will get a pop down menu and you can twiddle the settings to your requirements...

Welcome to Android Central! Specifically, in the menu that Tim1954 describes, turn on the switch for Hide Content on Lock Screen. You can also get here in Settings>Notifications, then tap Advanced, and then select Gmail.
