Moto e missed calls display?

[AC Question]

I have a 2nd generation Moto e. There is no automatic display/notifciation when I miss a call or text. The only way I can find if I have a missed call is by hitting the blue phone button, the hitting "recents". Same deal for a text.

I resisted the whole smartphone thing as long as I could as I prefer simplicity, so I was surprised that this phone lacks (or seems to) such a simple everyday feature. I'm hoping its something I am overlooking.

Icons on the top. Left. Swipe down from the top of the screen and you will see the notification pull down shade listing all notifications including missed calls. You can tap on the notification to open the app involved.
