Can I make my phone beep only once per unread conversation

You know those people who write one word per line and send 20 messages for one sentence ? My phone constantly beeping (especially if I am trying to ignore it for a few minutes) is driving me crazy. Is there a way to make my phone beep with the first unread message I receive from a given person, and then just relax ?
