Why does a blue light flash at the top of the phone?

Just got new phone S6 and a blue light flashes on the top edge. Do I need to switch something off?

That led is a notification. If you don't want to see it, go to display settings and turn it off.

It means you have an unread notification. For example you received a message while you were not looking at the phone and you didn't hear it. If you glance at the phone, there's a light, it means there's something you should read. It could be all sorts of notif.
