I've had my LG K8 V phone since August 2016 and it's been a pretty poor experience so far. Yesterday while I was trying to listen to music while walking around campus the song started to randomly stop. I checked the phone and the icon saying headphones were plugged in was gone. Ever since my phone refuses to acknowledge that earbuds or headphones of any kind are plugged in. I cleaned the port thoroughly to no avail. The weird thing is that when I use the app SoundAbout and force it to route audio to the jack it works just fine. My phone was perfectly fine until yesterday. Never installed anything funny or weird. It was working one minute but then just decided not to anymore.

I plan on exchanging the phone with my carrier once I've had it for a year so I can switch to another phone but I'm worried since they might claim that it is broken and charge me some fee. What do I do??

Welcome to Android Central! Does it happen in Safe Mode as well?

Just tried and it still does not recognize the earbuds. And yes, I've tried these earbuds on other devices and they work fine.

The phone must still be under warranty, right? It might be better to go through LG than your carrier.
