Will a SIM card from LG work in a SamSung S5/6/7 phone?

A

AC Question

LG phone died watery death. Can I buy a new or referb. phone and move the SIM card from LG to new phone (Samsung S5-S7) and resume using my cell #, contacts, photos, etc.? Do I have to get the carrier involved?

You can swap sim cards, although they do come in different sizes (mini, micro and nano), you may need to ask your carrier for a new sim card if you have a mini sim and you are moving to a phone that needs a nano if you don't want to cut it down. As for contacts and photos, if you had these backing up to your Google account then you will have no problems.

Welcome to Android Central! You are talking about the SIM card, and not the microSD card, correct? Photos would not be stored on a SIM card, and most modern phones don't store contacts on the SIM either.
