Why are my folders not showing up in gallery

[AC Question]

When i open the gallery in marshmallow and select albums or time none of my folders or pictures show up. I need help.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Are you talking about photos taken by your camera, or photos you've copied to the phone from somewhere else? If the latter, what directory are they saved to?
