How do I get Bluetooth phone mode to work again?

I have a Moto X Pure and my bluetooth won't connect phone mode with any car. It pairs with the car and then in the bluetooth settings, the phone mode option won't select and no phone calls will come through the car built in system. I have 3 cars and none of them work. I can share an image of the bluetooth settings screen if that helps - I took a screen shot. It worked fine until about 2 weeks ago and then it just stopped working in the car. I can connect and play music but not make or receive calls via BT.
