Budget smartphone with good screen-to-body ratio for Verizon?

I'm planning to purchase a budget smartphone ($250 or less) later this year because I'm tired of the phablet (5.5 inch screen, over 6 inches length) in my pocket. I'm thinking more of the 5" screen with a decent screen-to-body ratio and Verizon is my chosen network. Any suggestions on brand or device to consider?
