Why my phone won't charge or fully turn on after trying an overseas SIM card?

[AC Question]

I brought Verizon Samsung s3 to a Vodafone shop in NZ to see if I could use an nz SIM card in my phone while I'm here.

We put the nz SIM card in my phone and it would not turn on past the Samsung screen and it will not charge. I've replaced it with the original SIM card from the US, but it's still not charging or fully turning on.

Please help!
