What's with this "welcome to version 4.2.0" message?

Not sure why all of a sudden I can't open the Google Play Desktop App but it's really bothering me. This "Welcome to version 4.2.0" message keeps opening up and I can't use google play music. I don't even remember it mentioning any updates so I'm totally lost here. I'm not too computer savvy so I'd appreciate any help I can get. I actually pay for my google play music so this is kind of a pain.

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by Google Play Desktop App? Are you talking about the Google Play Music app, or the Google Play Store app? Which device do you have?
