What does the question mark mean on the battery when trying to charge it

Phone will not come on. Out it on the charger and a question mark is showing on the battery

It doesn't recognise the charger perhaps. Are you using the original charging unit? Or the battery out totally dead /there is no connection.
Try a different charger, if you get the same, a repair shop may be the next stop.

I believe its a problem with your Sim card. I tried charging my old phone without my Sim card to use the battery for another phone and the battery with a "?" Appeared on the screen
