How to use mobile hotspot on unlocked at&t galaxy s6 (using with cricket now)

I bought an unlocked at&t galaxy s6 phone but I use it with cricket. It does not allow me to use/turn on my mobile hotspot. I've read that at&t turns off that hotspot function if you decide to use the phone with another carrier. Is there NO way around this? The phone is unlocked. Not quite phone tech savvy so any DETAILED solutions would be great. I've read somewhere about rooting the phone not sure what that is or if it would help

You'll need to contact Cricket and get an appropriate data plan that offers mobile hotspot.
