    Hello -

I just received an "open box" new HTC One M8. The phone looks great and the charger and cable appeared to be unopened in their original packaging.

When I turned the phone on, the battery was almost completely drained. After briefly checking the phone for maybe a minute or so, it was down to 1%, so I turned it off and I started recharging it.

Several hours later, the battery was at 55%, which I thought was quite slow compared to other phones I've owned--like twice as slow.

Does starting out with an almost completely discharged battery like this seem like a bad idea? Is the battery still able to be properly conditioned with the recommended 3X cycling regimen mentioned here, or has it been adversely affected by this initial complete discharge?

    Thank you.

Complete discharge harms lithium batteries. Let's hope yours survive..
