If you have an IMAP email account and an older POP3 email account, is there any reason to keep the POP3 account? It used to be my email account but I've moved everyone, except some spam, to the IMAP account.

These days, the email protocol (pop3, imap, exchange, etc) can apply to any account as long as the email server supports it.

If you have no need for the old account and use only your newer account, you can certainly close the old account and have its contents deleted.
