AC Question
I upgraded from a Moto G to a LG G5 running Android version 7 on March 8th, 2017.
And my fun began...
The reason this is so important to me is because I receive work notifications in the following manner. I am on Virgin Mobile in Canada.
My employer sends out work opportunities out to all of the on call employees by text messages using an email client with an email address of <my phone number>@vmobile.ca The approved domain from Virgin to which email to text messages can be sent. I will receive some messages sent in this method, but not all. This problem is causing me to miss work opportunities and therefore money.
I have spent DAYS learning and going through every single thing I can to try to resolve my problem as it is a huge financial impact to me.
I can go into specifics, but lets just say multiple text message trials, APN setting changes, application changes, virgin mobile tickets opened to exhaustion, confirmed that messages are received and sent at the network level, changing the SIM card, hard and soft reboots, default restoration, and all for nothing. NOTHING can solve this issue.
Then yesterday, on March 27th, 2017, out of pure frustration and after losing work for weeks, I went back to where I bought the phone from and had the tech put THE SAME SIM back into my Moto G. Had work send me a text though the email client to THE SAME number on THE SAME network and volia, it was received instantly without fail.
So, through the process of elimination I would like to conclude that Android version 7 at a November 1st, 2016 security patch level running kernal version 3.18.31 with build number NRD90U and software version H83120a has a problem receiving or displaying text messages when using the default messaging application which is installed as part of the OS. Also alternate applications do not solve the problem.
I have also notices huge delays when messages are successfuly received and displayed.
I am now using my 3 to 4 year old phone which has no issue and is able to outperform the new phone in the texting department.
As this seems to be such a specific issue, I don't know if it will ever be resolved, but I wanted to post anyway as there is some kind of problem with it and perhaps the community can benefit.
