Sooo....how do I know for sure that a file I put on my phone will not be backed up by "the cloud". Personally, I always hated this feature. I'd love to enable it so it automatically uploads pictures I take and stuff, but I'm very paranoid that some file I throw on my phone is going to be picked up by google and be sent off to the cloud. And general rule of thumb - once its on the internet, its not going away. I liked the cloud back when it was all manual syncing but now its crazy and I never have a clue whats syncing. How can I put files on my device under a lock and make sure they're not ever uploaded to the cloud?

Welcome to Android Central! As long as the document isn't uploaded to your Google Drive using the Google Drive app, and as long as you don't have any other cloud apps working (like Verizon Cloud, Samsung Cloud, etc.), then it won't be backed up to the cloud.
