Why doesn't the "Auto capitalise" option in keyboard settings work?

This used to work like a charm a while back, but at some point it just stopped working for some reason. If I had to guess the problem, I would suggest, maybe I installed a custom keyboard and that messed the original keyboard up, but I don't know how to fix that. Maybe I can remove the remains of the old keyboard?
