can i use windows to copy a file on the android to the android desktop - es exp does not do this

es explorer used to but now when i click the three dots it allows me to copy to many folders but NOT the desktop!

galaxy note 10.1 ( the old one)
kernal version 3.0.31-etc

so i can connect to the win7 laptop, can i use that?

Hi there,

Not sure how these apps worked before, but you cannot copy anything to the Android desktop directly as this is not a folder destination as it is in Windows. You can store the file somewhere else (usually a Downloads folder) and then creating a shortcut to it (either via link if supported by your launcher or widget) on your 'desktop' (we call them Home Screens on Android).

You should still be able to do this from a Windows computer, but the shortcut to the file on your Android device has to do either from a File Manager app or directly on your homescreen (most launchers will let you add a shortcut or widget by long-pressing on an empty spot on the home screen and selecting the appropriate option).
