Can I get to CHOOSE updates & their timing?

Is there a way to make a Samsung Galaxy ONLY OFFER app updates, for me to say ok to which I want? I'm sick of apps (I don't want) updating or loading in the first place, and also with ones I do want updating when I'm in the middle of something, so I can't finish an email or send a message!
I'm sure I used to get them listed to 'ok, but now they just turn up and fill my memory with stuff I don't want and at times I need to USE the phone.
I'm beginning to really hate 'tech' -- I am ITS servant, instead of it being MINE!

Welcome to Android Central! If you're talking about app updates through the Google Play Store, there's a setting in the Play Store that allows you to turn off automatic app updates. It will still notify you when updates are available, but you control when apps are updated, and also which ones. I believe there's a similar setting in the Galaxy Apps Store, but I'm not completely certain.
