My new Samsung galaxy S8 just switched off and will not turn back on is it dead?

[AC Question]

Had the phone delivered today just started using it for a couple of hours and mid use it just switched off. Not powered down or anything with a boot down sequence, just straight lights out off. Now I am not able to get it to turn back on not sure what to press tried the old method to get into recovery console but not sure what to press without the physical home button. Tried various button combination and nothing....very frustrating! Has anyone else come across this issue?

Welcome to Android Central! In case it's frozen on a black screen, try pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 15 seconds to force a shutdown. Then wait a few seconds, and power on again by pressing and holding Power for about 10 seconds.
