What happens if i delete a built-in app?

A

AC Question

I have so many bulit-in apps i NEVER EVER use. The are only occupying space in my phone/storage. When i tried disabling a built-in app it said "If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave..." What does this mean? Is there a way of removing those apps without anything bad happening to my phone? Please help and thank you :)

You can find out easily enough simply by disabling the app without uninstalling it or otherwise tampering with its files, and seeing if it causes anything undesirable to occur. If it does, then you can just re-enable it, and you're none the worse off. If after waiting a reasonable period you don't see any ill effects, it's most likely not critical to your phone's operation and can be removed.

I do wish I knew of an authoritative source for documentation on the base Android OS. Seems they *want* it to be a mystery. <sigh>
