Downloading photos from my Canon S95 to my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Tablet

Hi - I would like to be able to download photos from my Canon PowerShot S95 camera onto my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Tablet using the USB socket on the camera and the Samsung Power/data socket on the tablet. I have assembled the required cable connection but have not been able to access the photos on the camera. Do I need to download any special software in order to view the photos? - Regards Reg

Welcome to Android Central! After you connect via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Select PTP, if available. Does that help?
