    What device and operating system? On KK Google made it so that apps can't write to the external sdcard. There is a fix for this on the playstore, but your device would have to have root access to use it.

    Hello there!

    Sounds like maybe one of the permissions was turned off for storage. I'm not sure what your default picture app is (for example on the pixel its just Google photos but some have a generic "gallery"), but you'll want to dig into your phone settings a bit.

    Settings > apps/application manager > scroll till you see the app you view and save pictures to and tap on it (gallery, google photos, etc) > look for permissions and tap on it > Make sure "storage" is toggled on.
