The issue is that Google maps on my phone does not always verbalize directions. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It seems quite random. I have tried clicking the microphone icon on and off, it that doesn't do anything to get it to start talking.
Thanks in advance for any ideas that anyone might have on why I can do to fix the issue.

Welcome to Android Central! Is this when you're in a car? Is the phone connected via Bluetooth to the car system or to a headset?

Thank you. Yes, the phone is connected to the car's audio system via Bluetooth. The weird thing is sometimes i hear the verbal directions directly, occasionally they come in through the audio system, and often, I don't hear any spoken directions.

Are there any other Bluetooth devices in the car that might be competing for a connection with the phone? Also, wi-fi can sometimes interfere with Bluetooth connections, so if the phone's wi-fi radio is on, turn it off to see if that helps.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I will try both of them.
