my google contact sync box is missing in the sync menu

[AC Question]

After doing a factory data reset.
I added my gmail account

normally u would find the calender and contacts as well as the other boxes in the sync menu.

my contact box isnt there.
I also check auto data sync in data usage menu.
I have checked in the app manger processes where there Isnt a "google contact sync" process disabled or running.

kindly advise.

yes. I have had the phone for many years and it worked as normal.

I have checked on my tab now to confirm of there could be a problem with my gmail account, but it is working as normal on my tab .
only this phone S3 giving me hassle.
The google contavt sync .apk download options doesnt open on my phone so im stuck in mud at moment.

Is the phone rooted? Did you originally have to install the Google Play Store yourself on the phone? I ask this in case the phone was intended for a market where Google services aren't available or allowed.
