My battery drains and phone dies when using?

Every time my galaxy core prime is on around 40 or 50% battery, it sometimes will just turn off completely. It makes a sound as if it has popped or cracked, and the screen goes totally black. When I try to turn it back on, the battery percent is about one! I don't know if it is the app I am on when it happens or if it just gets too hot- because I do notice that when it happens, the back of the phone is very warm.

You may need a new battery. It may also be worth describing the symptons to a repairer.
