I just got an offer to update my phone - Samsung Galaxy A5 (6) to Android 7.0 (Nougat I think it's called). As first I scheduled the update to take place overnight, but it didn't work, and the next morning it showed the exact same software (android 6).

I then decided to update it on the spot, at about 2 PM this afternoon. It's now almost 9 PM here in the UAE, and all I have seen on my phone screen for the past 6 and a half hours or so is the Samsung Logo on a black background. It seems to pulsate in brightness for some reason, but there isn't a progress bar or anything. I'm worried that it isn't actually updating.

I can't press any buttons, holding down all different combinations doesn't do anything. I can't see how much charge it has so I just put it on charge at about 5 PM, but still it hasn't updated. My internet speed is fine, (about 25 mpbs) and the phone has never had any problems connecting to the Wifi.

I'm wondering where the phone is bugged or is ACTUALLY updating. Please can someone help?

Welcome to Android Central! That's too long, so something is wrong with the update process. You may not have much choice but to force a shutdown by pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 10-15 seconds, then try wiping the cache partition: SAMSUNG A500F Galaxy A5 - Recovery Mode - HardReset.info
