Chrome automatically opening to start.att.net despite having google.com as homepage.

Hello, I'm seeking help in finding a solution to this issue. As of this morning, whenever I open chrome on my Galaxy S7 Edge, I'm automatically redirected to start.att.net. I've made sure that the home page is set to http://google.com but it refuses to open to that. I can't reinstall it completely because it's a native application on this device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

clear the data of the app from app settings.

I tried this, that didn't help. I was prompted to reconfigure initial chrome settings as if it were the first time loading it up but after that was set, it took me straight to the start.att.net page again.
