Messages dont have contact details (only number) attached post software update on S6, have checked SMS permissions and has permission to access contacts, as read in a previous post. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Android Central! Are all of your contacts saved to your Google account? If so, go to the App Manager, tap Menu>Show System, then select Contacts Storage and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Now wait a few seconds to let the Contacts app re-sync with your Google account, and see if the names show up again.

But don't do this if you have contacts that are saved to your Phone account only, since clearing the cache and data for Contacts Storage would delete these contacts completely.
