Galaxy S7 Edge. On Verizon. Software updated to G935VVRS4BQC9 on May 26. Problem seems to have started following this software update. Turning phone off and restarting seems to allow me to receive calls for 1 or 2 minutes before the "IMS service has stopped" message reappears and then I can no longer receive incoming calls.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you asked Verizon about this? Did you try wiping the cache partition? https://forums.androidcentral.com/hi...ml#post5838830

I did go into the local Verizon shop and they thought that one of my Apps might be incompatible with the recent software update. But could not tell me which App - nor how to troubleshoot.

Yes, I have cleared the cache partition. It did not resolve the issue.

When I power up the phone, I can receive calls for about 3 minutes. Then the "IMS app has stopped" message appears. Following that message, I can no longer receive calls. I can, however, make outgoing calls and send / receive text messages.

    Thanks for the help!

Booting into Safe Mode is another way to tell if it's an app you installed vs a problem with the system. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28008

Thank you. I followed the instructions on how to boot into Safe Mode. The results were the same - I could receive call for the first few minutes and not after that.

Perhaps the good news is that my issue is not caused my one of many, many apps. But by the system itself. So clearing the cache partition did not work and booting into Safe Mode did not work.

    Any other ideas / suggestions?

None of the suggestions at ifixit.com worked for me. So I downloaded and installed the Google Phone app, made it my default Phone app, and disabled the Samsung (default) phone app. I have been using the Google Phone app for one day now - and it seems to be working well for me.
