After a car accident, I inserted the micro SD card of the dashcam into my Samsung A8 to find the footage. Because I was not able to send it via Mail, I decided to plug my phone into the computer (Windows 7). Right when I plugged it in, the files in my file viewer on the phone corrupted (showed a question mark, file name changed to gibberish symbols). Same in File explorer.

What can I do to recover the dash cam footage?

Welcome to the forums. I would try returning the card back to your phone, and upload the pictures to Google Photos.

Hi, apparently I cannot reply without an account. This is OP, as said the card was alwasy in the phone as I do not have an Micro SD Card adapter to insert it into the computer. Right when plugged in it seemed like all files corrupted so I can't send the video anywhere since it does not really exist anymore. Is this a common problem? The app ES File Explorer was open and viewing the folder where all videos of the dashcam were in. Then I plugged it in and immediately all file names changed to gibberish symbols and the file symbol changed to a question mark. On the computer the same.

Welcome to the forums as a new member! Have you tried putting the SD card back into the dash cam? I'm thinking the cam may use a proprietary format and you would offload the video by hooking the cam up to a computer and letting it manage the files.
