If you're using a USB port to power your Chromecast, try using its power adapter instead. Also, give a brief description of your home network setup -- Are you using a carrier supplied modem/router or do you have your own separate router? As far as spacing, what's the approximate distance between your router and Chromecast?
Are you using just your tablet to control your Chromecast, or do you have other devices? (As in is it just your tablet that's an issue indicating it might be something with your Nexus or if multiple devices are having an issue indicating a possible networking issue.)
