Connect Samsung S6 to laptop via USB?

[AC Question]

Before Android 7, I used to be able to connect my S6 to my laptop using the USB cable. Now since the update, whenever I connect my phone to my laptop, it thinks it is charging. I pull the screen down and touch the 'charging' notification as I used to do, in order to change this to file transfer. But all this does is open up the battery info page now. How am I supposed to connect my S6 to my laptop with the USB cable?

Welcome to the forum. You have to enable developer options on the phone and you need current USB drivers on the laptop. To enable developer options, go to Settings, About Phone, Hardware Version and tap 7 times. Now when you hook up the USB cable you should see more options to enable data transfer.
