why do blocked numbers still get to my voice mail?

I've tried to block these calls, why do they still get to my voice mail?

Welcome to the forum. I'd guess because your phone app doesn't have the option to just reject the call. You can try contacting your carrier to see if they have a blacklist service, or try something like Truecaller.

That is what is supposed to happen. "Blocked" for calls is defined as "goes straight to voice mail without ringing".
