facebook messenger is not working

Facebook messenger isn't working. When I try to send a message it says....something went wrong please try again later

To fix this, go to your app settings and clear Messenger's data. Log back in and it will be fixed.

So most of the time the real cause of this error is that too many logged in sessions to Messenger are causing a conflict. To fix it you really need to go to your facebook app-> account settings -> security and login, then under Where You're Logged In choose Log Out Of All Sessions, then reload Messenger and you will be prompted to sign in again and the app should be able to retrieve your messages.

I did this but it still won't work? the app won't let me message anyone but will let me call completely fine
