So this is an intermittent occurrence, my Samsung S7 will get hot and the battery will drain crazy fast, I realize it's hot because of the discharge, but nothing I do will stop it. I've closed every app, restarted the phone, and even left it off for a bit. Sometimes leaving it off helps but not always. Any ideas what is going on? And when I say it's draining fast I mean it will die within a couple hours with no use.

Well at least that suggests - to me at least - that it's a software rather than a hardware problem. Something is doing something like billy-oh in the background, thrashing your processor and causing it to get hot. Location reporting? Possibly your setting in Location has got changed to High Accuracy?
It could be something else, but let's start with that.

My Samsung J5 6 battery is draining very fast and the device gets hot.And I bought it just 8 months before.Any ideas what is happening and what to do to stop this?
