    Laptop
    Lenovo 100S
    legitimate Office 365
email is via an instance of Outlook

    Phone
    Huawei
email is via the native email account app (not Outlook, which uses too much of the phone’s very limited internal memory; Outlook will not store to an internal card)
    Incoming settings:
    IMAP server is exchange.iinet.net.au
Port is 993 (as specified by iiNet)

    Outgoing settings:
    SMTP server is smtpauth.exchange.iinet.net.au
Port is 587 (as specified by iiNet)

I note that when I login at I cannot see sent email later than 26 May 2017 suggesting to me that the sent mail is being stored on the phone only.

Check to see if the phone's "sent items" folder is in the list of folders for IMAP to sync with the server.

Also check your settings to see if the app saves your outgoing messages in the "sent items" folder or in the same folder as the message you are replying to.

The factory supplied email app may be too basic for your needs.
