Wanted to retrieve some deleted videos from my internal memory. But the program didn't manage to root my phone (sony Xperia z3), and suggest that I root before continuing. Is this recommended? If so, how do I root?

Welcome to the forum. Not sure how you were going to recover that data without rooting first, but, from a Google search:

Download Android Root. Download and install One Click Root onto your PC.
Connect Your Device. Connect your Android to your computer using a standard USB cable.
Enable USB Debugging. Open 'Developer Options' and enable USB debugging.
Run One Click Root. Run One Click Root and let the software do the rest.

Thank you for your reply. Appreciate lots.

So I'll need to download one rooting app on my phone and install one on my pc? Can I unroot after rooting?

So after I root my device, then I'll just use the data recovery program to retrieve the videos? What data recovery program do you recommend? (There are a lot that says free to review, pay to retrieve. )

    Thank you.

Welcome as a new member! Yes, you can unroot, its not a one-way street. Titanium Backup seems to be the program of choice that I've read about, have not personally used it though. We also have a forum that deals with root, you might do search or go to Forum and look through the list.
