Why is my lock screen different from the settings?

I've tried to change my password of my lockscreen before, and tested it out. But when I tried to enter the password, my lockscreen was us on swipe. So I swiped open my phone and went on settings to chage the lockscreen, I tried to enter my pasword pin and it said it was wrong no matter how many times I entered the password I made up. Basically, the lockscreen is different from the settings than the actual lockscreen. What do I do?

Welcome to the forums. Sorry, am not fully understanding the problem, but you can try going to the Android Device Manager website with a PC and try to reset your PIN and gain access to the phone.
