I have a pin set to unlock the phone. It should require the pin every time the phone is woke up. However it's not asking for it. It will allow just a swipe to open the phone. Anyone know how to fix it?

Does the trouble persist in Safe Mode?

I dont know what safe mode is. I just want the phone to ask for the pin when I wake it up, and it's not.

Go to Settings, Security and look for lock screen options to require a password or PIN to unlock.

Safe Mode disables third-party apps - that is, apps that you may have downloaded yourself rather than the pre-installed ones - as a diagnostic to test whether the trouble is being caused by one of them. If the trouble stops while in Safe Mode, that is what is indicated. I once myself used a launcher which I soon realised was causing exactly the trouble that you are experiencing, so it had to go.
That is why I suggested Safe Mode.

Look at Security - Smart Lock.
I don't think its smart lock, that releases the security lock given a set of conditions once security is established. It sounds like the OP is trying to set security in the first place.

and it's easy to misread a question
Two sides of the coin, why we have more than one person answering posts But now the OP has both solutions!

Firstly welcome to AndroidCentral @Achasteen22 😃

If you open Settings -> Security -> Automatically Lock -> Then choose the 'immediately' option.

This will lock your device after you turn the screen off and not wait a certain time limit to lock it. I'm sure you have a 5 or 10 minute waiting time till the device locks.

Hope this helps. Should be a easy fix.

^ Well, there's another possible solution, and it could indeed be that.
What are we at, three or four now? Who can think of another?
