Battery Stuck at 1%, after being plugged in for hours. can run youtube videos for a long time

Aight so, i just bought a new ZTE A476, i went to charge it, and it doesnt show its charging, but the phone heats up. after leaving this plugged in for about 4 hours, i managed to get 3 hours of solid youtube video in and the phone didnt run out of battery at 1%... any ideas? also my flashlight doesnt work if that helps.

Welcome to Android Central! Try charging overnight from a wall outlet undisturbed, then use the phone normally until it shuts off automatically from low battery. Then charge up again to 100% (if possible) and see if the battery sensor works correctly now.
