I tried to search this but found no answer. Samsung Galaxy S5, on marshmallow 6.0.1 and many times when I am at a public place of business and the business has an open guest WiFi and I try to log on in Chrome I get the error message that it's an unsafe connection and won't let me log in. How do I get to login?
Thanks

Are you getting that in the Captive Portal first? A lot of times, when you see that in the Captive Portal, it will ask if you want to log in via the browser anyway -- do you get that?

As an example, I am at a restaurant and It has an open wifi for guests, I open the list of wifi networks available and tap the one for the restaurant, Chrome opens and I get a google message saying something to the effect that this is an insecure connection and won't go to the web-page that would allow me to log on. I find this happens at about 50% of the private open hot spots provided by businesses, hospitals or other public hotspots.

Yeah, I see that with some regularity as well. I haven't found a good workaround for that (and frankly, it may not be a good idea to workaround it at all, if it's that insecure). Do you ever get the popup Captive Portal Login? It's possible to disable that in Settings>Apps, so make sure you or someone else hadn't disabled it in the past.

What I mean is that if the CaptivePortalLogin system app has been disabled, you wouldn't even get that opportunity. Go to Settings>Apps, tap Menu>Show System, and see if CaptivePortalLogin has been disabled.
