I have moved to Cricket using my paid for Verizon LG4 phone. Since I don't like all the Verizon default apps on the phone, the person at the Cricket store suggested I do a factory reset of the phone and that a "cricket" version of Android would automatically be downloaded to the phone, removing all the Verizon specific apps. Does anyone know if this really works, or will doing a factory reset of the phone while attached to the Cricket network "brick" my Verizon LG 4 phone?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Doing a factory reset will simply reset it to the Verizon factory settings and apps. You'd have to flash a different variant's firmware, but that can introduce incompatibilities. Or you could root the phone and remove the preinstalled bloatware, but be careful, because if you delete the wrong thing, you could brick the phone.
