why doesn't my phone do what you say it will?

You say when the security shield shows up, pull the menu down and click the shield for more info. THERE IS NO SHIELD THERE WHEN I DO THAT! I have looked at every place that has to do with security, I have updated manually and got no joy.
When I was fiddling with Knox, it went away for a few seconds, but came right back.
How do I get rid of this annoying shield? NO ONE has come up with an answer that works.
