how to hook a kodi android box up to a labtop

I have hooked my kodi box to my labtop with a hdmi cable and it does nothing I was wanting to know how to hook it up so I can watch tv on my lab top and I do not want to download kodi on my labtop

It defeats the purpose. And as far as I know there is not a way. As KODI would normally be installed on your laptop itself.

The HDMI port on a laptop is wired as an output, not an input. There is no way for signal to be sent from the HDMI port to the screen.

why would you want to do that when you can just use kodi's app over your laptop. windows' app is already the superior version
