Why is my volume button turning up/down the in-call volume by default?

I've had my Samsung Galaxy S7 for over a year now and I couldn't be more satisfied with it. It's everything I want in a phone. However, recently I've had a problem to where whenever I wanted to turn down my ringtone (or media when I was in an app), it would bring up the in-call volume instead. Some days I wouldn't even make a call and it would still happen. What do I do?
