AC Question

I bought a Nokia 6, running Android 7.1.1, last month. I have a small '1' on top of my Google Calendar icon and it's driving me crazy (how is it even possible to get an unread calendar entry? :-| ...)
I don't want these numbers on my icons. Does anyone know how to make them go away?

I have the exact same issue (Nokia 5, Android Nougat 7.1.1, I also run the MS Next home-screen which I find great for displaying upcoming events).

There is a persistent '1' on the Google Calendar icon that I cannot get rid of. The Google Calendar App is my first icon in the lower taskbar, meaning that I see this '1' EVERY time I use my phone and it's been there for months now.

It's not so much that there is a notification there, that's fine.

But HOW do I know which event or reminder this is so I can clear off this annoying "1"?

- scrolling through the calendar, there are no events that appear bold (or 'unread', but this is not how the calendar works anyway; events are just there and they are never bold)
- I can even uncheck the boxes for events and reminders to show a blank calendar and the '1' remains ever-present sitting on the app icon. a calendar 'refresh\resync' doesn't do anything.
- clicking on the '1' on the icon isn't recognised, it just opens the calendar app
- there is absolutely no status\notification within the calendar app where this '1' event could be
- I thought it may be a pending calendar app update, but this is not the case as I have apps set to auto-update
- I need general calendar notifications to remain set as I use these on the Microsoft Next home-screen (used to have a Windows phone and upcoming events on the main display are a must for me). I believe this to have been an event that was not manually dismissed, but just came and went.
- I even uninstalled\reinstalled the app, no success.

I found a fix for this. When another calendar event shows in the notification drop-down, if you then swipe this away the existing "1" over the Google Calendar app finally disappears. It must be swiped away within the main Android screen (and not another lockscreen like Microsoft Next that I am also using). Will report this to Google as a bug in their Android Calendar app.

It's a bug in the Next Lockscreen, not Google. Since if you swipe away from normal inbuilt lockscreen it should go away.

Confirmed. Very nice - thanks.
