I'm running Android 7.0 on a Moto G5 Plus. I took a bunch of photos while I was without service in the mountains this weekend. I know for sure that they took because I could see them immediately afterwards, but a few minutes later I could no longer see them. When I have service my phone normally immediately backs up my photos to Google Photos and I can view them on that app on my phone. While I was I was off wifi, even though I couldn't see them, the app said that it was waiting for wifi to backup 40 photos. Therefore, I figured when I got home it would sync and I would be able to view them. But this never happened! I can see only a couple of the photos, but most of them appear to be completely lost: not in the device folders or in Google Photos, even though it says "Backup and Sync complete". Any ideas where my photos could have been lost to and how I might recover them?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you know if they were saving to Internal Storage or an SD card (if applicable)?
