Google prompts me for information about the "Black Walnut" restaurant a half mile from my home. "Are you at the Black Walnut?" This is annoying. What the heck, why do you always think I'm at the Black Walnut? If I open Google maps and check my location, it accurately pinpoints my location in my home.

Google Now is using the location at which your internet connection is made to the backbone - and that can be many miles off, depending on your carrier or ISP.
